Rooted in the Gospel and Catholic social teaching, we believe all persons have the right to find in their own countries the opportunities to live in dignity and the right to seek work elsewhere in order to survive.
Sovereign nations have the right to control their borders while affording protection to refugees and asylum seekers and respecting the human dignity and rights of undocumented migrants.
We affirm the God-given dignity of every human being including immigrants and refugees regardless of status. We affirm this work as righteous. We are called by the Gospel to assist immigrants and refugees, regardless of their documentation status.
Recognizing the lack of information and the disinformation spread by various sources, we commit ourselves to educate citizens to galvanize advocacy in hopes of appropriate legislative action. Given the lack of such services in the State of Wyoming and given the significant number of persons impacted by such issues (many of whom are part of our faith community), CCW should make the provision of such services and advocacy a central part of its mission.
We will cooperate and coordinate with other faith communities and people of good will to provide essential services and advocacy as we journey with immigrants and refugees to the Kingdom of God.
The range of services provided may include:
• A telephone ‘hotline’ for information and guidance.
• Legal referrals to navigate the immigration system.
• Sponsor consulate visits.
• Locate legal representation in deportation proceedings.
• Provide “Know Your Rights” resources and trainings.
• Evaluate sanctuary possibilities.
• Support advocacy efforts at city, state, and national levels.
• Support the establishment of the Refugee Resettlement Program.
