We believe that housing, and access to housing, is a fundamental human right that recognizes the
life and dignity of every person.
The Affordable Housing Committee (AHC) shall assist the Catholic Charities of Wyoming (CCW) Board of Directors in identifying the current housing shortage, by regions, in the State of Wyoming. Possible ranking of need by area may be necessary to decide on priority.
The AHC will explore unique ways in each locality to identify current options available for additional housing. This committee will attempt to research the adverse effects, in these locations, that are directly associated with the shortage. Our desire will be to form a partnership with community leaders to better understand the diverse issues in each community.
The AHC will work with the CCW to identify viable solutions to the housing shortage. Collaboration will be needed with community leaders to find options to acquire additional land and or buildings to accommodate the housing shortage. The Committee should identify ways to educate State Legislators, County Commissioners, and City Officials of the need for affordably priced parcels to be used for such housing. Information collected on the adverse effects will be helpful in this education.
